Before we get to this super cool ice cream recipe (poppy! the word alone is so cool already, haha!), i want to send a tiny bit of personal stuff ahead. Last Saturday my boyfriend, his mom, my parents and I went out to eat at an African restaurant (one of those that imitate a Bedouin tent with "desert sand" on the floor and seat cushions) where we stuffed our faces with loads of yummy curry variations - you eat with bare hands, so fun!

Anyway, afterwards we could barely move, but on the way back we came by an ice cream parlour that had loads of vegan ice creams, so we just had to get some! My boyfriend and i shared a scoop of vegan Campari ice cream, and a scoop of vegan Soy Vanilla Poppy ice cream (pictured below). Especially the poppy one was so good!

And that's how i got the idea for this recipe. All made up from scratch.

Ingredients

3 bananas, peeled, chopped and frozen
1 1/2 tbsp poppy seeds
1/2 - 1 tsp pure vanilla powder
3 tbsp plain soy yogurt (optional)
a splash of soy milk to get the blender going (optional)

also:
- a high-speed blender or food processor (NO NEED FOR AN ICE CREAM MAKER!)

Instructions

Add your frozen banana pieces to a blending machine (high-speed blender or food processor) and blend. Add soy yogurt and/or soy milk to get the blender going, and to make the ice cream a little creamier. You could also use soy cream, but i've never tried that myself.

Add poppy seeds and vanilla powder. These two go together so well! The flavour has a hint of marzipan, i think.

Blend until creamy smooth. Using a spatula, spoon or fancy-pantsy ice cream scoop as i did, transfer into a pretty ice cream bowl, and enjoy immediately!

Doesn't it look super pretty with its tiny dots everywhere?

Note: This is part of my raw vegan Ice Cream Galore this month!
